As you may remember from my last blog post Miss Hayley Paige is one of my favourite wedding dress designers. Wait? You haven’t read that post yet? Okay, well, read it here….I can wait 🙂
Welcome back!! Today I want to do a spotlight piece on a woman who has taken the bridal industry by storm. A charming, beautiful, accomplished designer whose designs have been worn by the likes of Chrissy Teigan, Olivia Wilde and other socialites and famous trendsetters, Hayley Paige creates chic and glamorous gowns for the fashion forward bride.
Hayley’s career in fashion began when she interned at Elle magazine while still attending Cornell University. Her big break came after a show at Cornell where she displayed 10 dresses from her bridal collection. Jill Stuart, who attended the show, went to Hayley immediately after and gave her a job on the spot. From there she moved on to become an integral designer working for Melissa Sweet on her bridal and bridesmaid collection. She was also the primary designer behind the first Marchesa Eterna bridal collection at Priscilla of Boston. In 2011 Hayley’s dream became reality when she was brought into JLM Couture where they backed and funded her own collection
There are many words used to describe Hayley’s style like fairytale, chic, feminine, and in her own words “playful juxtapositions”. One important part of her creative process is the naming of each of her gowns. It provides them with their own unique personality and helps to focus on the individuality of each bride. One such dress is the Guindon which Hayley says provided a brand defining moment as she watched it go down the runway in the Spring 2013 show.
When Hayley herself got engaged it was anyone’s guess what fantastical wonder she would design for her own wedding. Well, she didn’t disappoint because with her own wedding she proved once again the unique aesthetic that is Hayley Paige by taking risks and pushing the envelope stylistically by not only designing one dress but designing 5 spectacular dresses that she wore throughout her wedding weekend in Lake Tahoe.
Calling all star-crossed lovers! Inspiration for the most recent bridal collection, you will actually find hidden constellations and scattered galaxies among the Hayley Paige gowns this season. For the new collection, the description on the JLM Couture site couldn’t have possibly said it any better…. “embraces femininity with a touch of edginess. Alluring contrasts are glimpsed in pairings like twinkle and matte, giving each dress an unmistakable charisma that enhances the bride’s own captivating charm. Balance is found in the union of textured details such as hand appliquéd lace and flutters of sheer fabric, evoking a feeling of whimsical refinement”.
For true insight into what makes Hayley….so…Hayley, it’s best to hear from the woman herself..
